ORD BEND - Glenn County sheriff's personnel resumed their search this morning for Glenn resident James John Haidl, 62, who fell into the Sacramento River from a capsized canoe Monday afternoon.

His rowing partner, Bob Heberle, 60, of Woodland, was able to swim to a gravel bar, where he was rescued.
Sheriff's Sgt. Sean Arlin said a dog trained to find bodies was placed aboard a patrol boat and is searching the river in an area where Haidl's canoe was found.

The accident took place about 2:20 p.m. The men had launched at Hamilton City about noon and were reportedly paddling to Ord Bend. They were about two miles form their destination when the boat suddenly overturned.

It's unknown if Haidl was wearing a personal floatation device. Authorities were told he is a strong swimmer.
