Scott Steele joined the unit in 2003. He is a local business owner, has lived in the North State since 1978, and graduated from CSU Chico in 1983. Scott is married, and has 3 children, ages 16 to 27. He serves in general search functions, and is qualified in all unit rescue functions. His SAR certifications include Helicopter Rescue Tech and Crew Chief, Technical Rope Rescue, Advanced Swift Water Rescue, and all unit equipment for Motorized Rescue. He also utilizes his personal off-road motorcycle and 4wd, and serves as a helicopter co-pilot, and pilot-in-training.
Scott also serves the Butte County Sheriff's Office as a Reserve Deputy and Rangemaster.
Other certifications include Commercial & IFR pilot ratings for Fixed and Rotary Wing aircraft, Range Safety Officer for NRA, IDPA, and USPSA, Open Water Diver, and a SCCA Road Racing Novice Permit.
Scott's outside interests include community service with the Paradise Rotary Club, competitive shooting, on and off road motorcycling, hunting, hiking, and water skiing.
