I was born in California and have lived here most of my life, moving to Paradise in 1956 and graduating from Paradise High School in 1959.
I joined Butte County Sheriff's Search and Rescue in 2001, after retiring from 32 years as a Fire Captain for Paradise Fire Department. I have taken strike teams from Malibu to Modoc County during several fire sieges.
I am also with an animal rescue group, Noah's Wish, and have responded to floods and fires to take care of the animal victims of disasters.
I am a member of the Team's K9 Unit with my Border Collie, Gypsy. I am also a member of CARDA, a state K9 search organization. I have worked in communications while I was in the U.S. Navy, and am an Amateur radio license holder (KG6AFE) and I help out with SAR Control at times. I have been trained in Technical Rescue, Swiftwater Rescue, First Aid, PC 832, ICS Command positions, and MSO (search operations).
I enjoy SAR work, and will be here until you cart me off to a body farm somewhere!
