February 20th, 2026 – Chico, CA – The Butte County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue team invites public input for the off-highway vehicle (OHV) grant applications to the California State Parks Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division. These grants support our teams readiness for search and rescue missions in OHV areas in both Plumas and Lassen National Forest OHV areas within Butte County. Our team is requesting funding for a new enclosed snowmobile trailer, along with helmets and other related snowmobile safety equipment.
We would like to welcome the public to an in-person meeting on Thursday, February 26th, at 6 pm at our headquarters, 3965 Morrow Lane, Chico, CA. Our team will present our OHV search & rescue program in the county, and allow the public to provide input to our preliminary grant application.
Our team’s preliminary grant application is due the first Monday in March. We would like to welcome community input to our grant application. Once our team submits the application, it will be available for public review and comment on the OHV Division website. The comment period runs from the first Tuesday (March 3) after the first Monday in March through 5 p.m. on the first Monday in May (May 4).
The California State Parks Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division state program supports off-highway vehicle recreation in California by distributing funds collected from gas tax, entrance fees, and off-highway vehicle registration.
