The Butte Interagency Rescue Group was established in 1999 as a cooperative organization under the authority of the Butte County Fire Chief’s Association and the Butte County Sheriff’s Office. The group is comprised of representatives from Cal Fire, Butte County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue, and Chico, Oroville and El Medio Fire Departments. The purpose of the group is to coordinate a Technical Rescue Response System for agencies within the county charged with the authority and responsibility to deliver such service to the citizens of Butte County.  This ensures all technical rescues are performed in a consistent manner by all agencies in the county.
