Communications
The Sheriff’s Communications Reserve has teamed up with BCSAR to provide communications and logistical support during search operations. The Comm Reserve is comprised of over a dozen radio enthusiasts, many whom are amateur radio operators, who are trained in public safety communications, interoperability, setting up portable equipment, and managing radio caches. The team has two vehicles that are equipped to support any communications, power or lighting needs that may arise. The team maintains a ham radio station at both SAR Headquarters and the Sheriff’s Office dispatch center in Oroville, and has a linked repeater system that is shared with emergency services groups in the county:
W6SCR: 145.290- tone 110.9
Friends of the Highlakes (linked to W6SCR): 146.700- tone 110.9
